Let's get started

Eagle IdahoThe City of Eagle, Idaho grew from a small village with a population of 350 in 1970 to today’s bustling community of well over 25,000. It is recognized for the many higher-end communities and the higher-than-average home values to prove it. Many have coined the term 'rurban' to describe the city due to its smaller downtown with sprawling neighborhoods close to farmland, and it also has a thriving business community.

Not long ago, Eagle was a town that was centered around Old State Street and downtown Eagle, notably the Orville Jackson Store. Today there is a thriving business district along the Boise River at Eagle Rd & State Street. Here you find a hospital, retail stores, restaurants, banking, and corporate headquarters.

History of Eagle, Idaho

Eagle’s early history was set in motion when gold was discovered in the Boise Basin in 1862. Many chose to seek their fortune mining, but a select few came to understand that the mining towns desperately needed the agricultural products that were fast becoming the mainstay of Boise and its river valley to the west, and they centered their efforts on those needs.

Truman C. Catlin was one of those farsighted settlers who quickly realized that his real gold was to be found in farming and claimed 160 acres on Eagle Island. Originally naming his island home after his native state, Catlin was soon persuaded to rename the island to reflect the large number of bald eagles that made the island their home as well.

Farming further evolved with the development of irrigation canals. The land is considered very fertile with the yearly flooding of the land and high water table. Eagle remained very much an agriculture-based community for decades. Learn more.
